Engagements - Overview
Monster Worldwide, Inc.
At Monster I fine tuned and sharpened my web interface development skills as I developed the layout and interface code for the Homepages in Monster's Employer Application (http://employer.monster.com). As part of the new redesign effort (scheduled for rollout in October 2009) I developed a set of standardized, sophisticated layout code and introduced cross browser compliant formatting techniques that will be the basis for Monster's (Employer) interface code for years to come.
I also acted as an expert resource on HTML & CSS technologies for the entire Technology team at Monster and helped the team to increase their understanding of issues like cross-browser support, search engine optimization and accessibility compliance.
Fidelity Investments
At Fidelity, I built highly functional prototypes of proposed web applications during the design phase of projects for Fidelity Investments. Using a combination of HTML, JavaScript, DHTML, XML, and ASP - I created these dynamic prototypes that incorporate "smoke and mirrors" that simulate "flows through the application", "conditional display of elements", and other "pseudo functionality".
My Final Fidelity Project:
Fidelity Investments Redesigned Mutual Funds Section: Mutual Funds at Fidelity
Dynamic Prototypes
These "Dynamic Prototypes" help the Project Manager, Information Architects, Business Partners, and Application Developers a great deal in visualizing how the proposed application will actually work. These dynamic prototypes are also essential when it comes to usability testing. The more dynamic it is, the better the information that can be harvested from the usability studies/tests.
I built a highly dynamic prototype for the next version of Fidelity's online Portfolio Review Tool, which was launched on fidelity.com in 2006 and was also part of a large Advertising Campaign making people aware of the new and improved tools.
This was all part of an ongoing effort at Fidelity to be an undisputed leader of cutting edge technology leadership across all their web applications, public(retail) and Institutional(eWorkplace, NetBenefits) in order to provide an unparalleled quality of user experience in the financial services industry.
Freelancer
As a freelance consultant, I engaged in a variety of endeavors. One of my engagements involved being a Webmaster for DemandTec, Inc. in San Carlos, California (www.demandtec.com).
I have also partnered with an entrepreneur (Orion Security Integrators, Inc.) who is looking for first round funding for their biometric system integration solution offering. Martin has conducted a thorough market analysis of the biometric technology sector to help determine where the opportunity for entry exists.
My engagment with Spry Technologies called on me to develop a prototype for a sales exposition. This prototype was mapped to Use Cases that had been previously prepared. The demo resulted in a great amount of interest in Spry Technologies' product offering.
While exploring a possible career change as a Certified Financial Planner, I have studied for and passed The Massachusetts Life, Accident & Health insurance licensing exams.
Previous Employers
Datasafe
At Datasafe Inc., I was the sole Web Interface Developer, responsible for building the web interface for Datasafe's complex registration process for their online privacy application. I transferred all the data validation off of the server side to the client side by implementing comprehensive JavaScript form validation code. Also, I maintained and updated the corporate web site in order to disperse information to potential second-round investors.
Nervewire
While at NerveWire Inc., I helped to create an online exchange for grain producers and distributors. I also created the UI for an online financial services company for investors wishing to make private equity part of their investment portfolios. In addition to working closely with visual designers to design these interfaces, I worked with Java developers to integrate the interface with the rest of the system.
CSC
Prior to joining NerveWire, I coordinated and supervised the efforts of interface designers, graphic designers, Web developers and software engineers in a leading technology firm's e-Business Development Center. In this role, I developed site structures (intuitive directory structures) and HTML
templates, managed external resources, and organized and prioritized content. I also tailored third-party applications by adding customized interfaces to products such as I-Chat's Rooms, message boards, e-share discussion forums, and existing online catalogs.
...and beyond
My professional history includes significant experience in client interaction. As a lead technical CSR contact, I owned and serviced several concurrent client accounts. Daily interaction with mid- and high-level managers helped me to maintain positive, ongoing relationships with these accounts.
Project Portfolio
In my Web Sites/Application Project Portfolio, you'll find a broad range of web applications across a variety of industries. Most recently the focus has been more towards B2B and enabling eCommerce, online exchanges and Net Market applications.
